I believe that understanding confidence intervals enables people to properly analyze the information coming from their sources. Before I knew about them, I would have assumed that if a statistic stated that they were 95% positive that an event will occur, the event was unquestionably going to occur. I now understand that I can use logic to determine that there is a 95% possibility that the event will occur if I take the confidence interval and the upper and lower bounds of whatever the statistic is saying. Additionally, I believe that understanding how confidence intervals operate can make it easier to judge whether a statistic is being truthful or makes sense. As we've discussed previously, it's occasionally necessary to logically question the numbers you're looking at, and having the knowledge makes it simpler to do so. What would be a good response to a discussion such as this?
