Descriptive Geometry Laboratory 1 The entrance to a tunnel is located at the bottom of a vertical shaft at point A(8, 2, -1). The tunnel bears N35W, has a downward grade of 20%, and is 12 units long. Prepare a sketch and a drawing made with drafting instruments. Use the proper Cartesian coordinate system and a suitable scale. Show or determine, using DG constructions only, the following: a) Show the tunnel, as a line, from entrance A to exit B in H and F views. b) What are the coordinates of B? c) What is the difference in elevation (i.e., height) between the ends of the tunnel? d) What is the slope angle of the tunnel? What angle does the tunnel make with the F plane? Provide your answers for b)-e) on both your sketch and drawing. For the sketch do not use any measurement tools, but make estimates based on your scale. For the drawing made with instruments, use a ruler to measure distances and a protractor to measure angles. Reminder: use quad paper or white paper for sketches and white 8.5x11 inch paper for the drawing made with drafting instruments. Use a title block provided on Brightspace for your drawing made with drafting instruments. You don't need a title block for the sketch, but the Lab number, your name, and student number must be on the sketch.
