P-401 Control Narrative: A 20 ft. tank (T-400) is filled with liquid by a pump a quarter mile away. The P-401 pump sits right next to T-400 and drains the tank. The tank has two level switches. The high level switch is 3 feet from the top of the tank. The low level switch is 3 feet from the bottom of the tank. The high level switch (LSH-400) indicates a '0' if the liquid level is above the switch. The high level switch (LSH-400) indicates a '1' if the liquid level is below the switch. The low level switch (LSL-400) indicates a '1' if the liquid level is above the switch. The low level switch (LSL-400) indicates a '0' if the liquid level is below the switch. Note the difference in wiring for the two switches. When the liquid level rises above LSH-400, the P-401 pump begins to run. It continues to run until the liquid level drops below LSL-400. The pump will then remain off until the liquid level rises above LSH-400. The P-401 pump should run while the jog button is pressed. The P-401 pump should always stop when the E-Stop button is pressed. Lights may remain lit. When the liquid level is above the high level switch, a blue light should be on to indicate "Tank Full". When the liquid level is below the low level switch, a green light should be on to indicate "Tank Empty". If the inputs indicate a full and empty tank simultaneously, a red "Signal Error Warning" light should be on.
