Design with Multiplexers
A small corporation has 9 shares of stock, and each share entitles its owner to one vote at a stockholders meeting. The 9 shares of stock are owned by four people as follows:
Mr. Smith: 1 share
Mr. Jones: 2 shares
Mr. Cole: 3 shares
Mrs. Ryan: 3 shares
Each of these persons has a switch to close when voting yes and to open when voting no for his or her shares.
Design using 8 to 1 multiplexers a circuit that displays the total number of shares that vote yes for each measure. If all shareholders vote no for a measure, the display should be 0. If all shareholders vote yes for a measure, the display should show 9. Otherwise, the display shows a decimal number equal to the number of shares that vote yes.
Provide an additional output with an LED that goes on if the number of yes votes gets the majority.
