Despite losing the election to Mr. Burns, Marge and her supporters celebrated the end of her campaign with a partv at Moe's Tavern. Homer had a great time dancing and drinking throughout the evening. When the partv was over, some of the campaign volunteers offered to drive Homer home but he refused. Homer left the bar and tried to drive home. He lost control of his car and struck a tree. Homer suffered serious head injuries and can no longer do his job at the nuclear power plant. Homer's blood alcohol level at the time of the accident was twice the legal limit. Homer has sued Moe's Tavern for negligence causing damages in the amount of $1 million, since Moe continued to serve Homer after he was visiblv drunk and allowed him to leave without a ride home
