Despite the availability of big data and new analytical methods, a significant proportion of today's public safety organizations seem to remain narrowly focused on the same categories of indicators that have dominated the field for decades: number of personnel per 1,000 population, clearance rates, response times, reduction of fires/crimes /incidents in a term compared with a previous term, etc. Discuss how data has been used to measure performance in your public safety sphere? Do you consider this to be the most effective way to measure preparedness and system performance? What method(s) would you suggest? Use a case study to illustrate your answer.
