Despite what some educators believe about the negatives of acceleration, the data supports the belief that acceleration benefits those who qualify more than hinders them (Acceleration, n.d.). In a list of points about acceleration, Assouline, Colangelo, and VanTassel-Baska (2015) stated that "acceleration is the most effective intervention for gifted students." Since there is data that suggests the positive impacts of acceleration on gifted children, I believe it is critical for school districts to, at the very least, offer acceleration as a viable option for meeting the needs of gifted learners
