image text in transcribed Details of your solutions should be presented clearly in legible handwriting for your solutions to be graded. Solutions unaccompanied by sufficient computational detail will not be graded. Large quantities must be rounded to the nearest integer, and small quantities to the fourth decimal. All work that is presented for grading must belong to you alone. Please solve the questions using a spreadsheet tool and paste your solutions in tabular form to your report. Explain the calculations involved for all the columns in a single row of these tables to be able to get marks. 1) Tempe Inc. is considering four mutually exclusive public projects. The capital investment requirements, annual operating \& maintenance (O\&M) costs, and salvage values of these projects are given below. Each project has a useful life of 40 years, and the minimum attractive rate of return for Tempe is 11% per year. Which of the four projects, if any, should be selected? 2) The present worth of the after-tax cash flows of an existing machine (defender) with three-year remaining useful life and a replacement alternative (challenger) with a five-year useful life are given below. Assuming an after-tax MARR of 11%, (a) determine the minimum equivalent uniform annul cost and the economic life of each asset and (b) explain when the existing machine be replaced with the new machine. 3) A waste-water department has a four-year-old pump that was purchased for $65,000. The pump can be kept in service for an additional four years, or it can be sold for $35,000 and replaced by a new pump. The price of the new pump is $50,000. The projected market values and operating \& maintenance (O\&M) costs over a four-year planning horizon are given below. Assuming a minimum attractive rate of return of 10% per year, determine (a) the economic life of the challenger and (b) when the defender should be replaced
