The assignment is designed such that it requires students to read all the articles, and then create a unique plan for themselves - since each student is different each plan will be different. I chose 6 components that helped me create my plan and utilized research from the additional articles to create my overall plan. Behavioral focused strategies: Self-observation, or increase of one's awareness about when and why to act Each month we have one-on-one's with employees to create their action plan of how they are going to improve. During these one-on-one's I will ask for feedback from employees on how I can do better and what they need from me. If I do it in a conversational style it will ensure employees feel comfortable giving feedback. Ask myself the following questions from the Kaplan (2007) article, What to Ask the Person in the Mirror, each quarter of the year to make sure I am on the right track: 1. At the end of every month I will compare my results with my personal expectations. This method will show me where my strengthslie and what I am doing or failing to do that is depriving me of my full benefits of my strengths (Drucker, 2005). After 3 months I should see a trend, and begin to improve each month. After 9 months to a year I will have sufficient data to determine my true strengths and weaknesses. Natural rewards strategies: Focus on enjoyable tasks Concentrate on my strengths. I need to put myself where my strengths can produce results. This will help me gain confidence in my work. Improve my strengths, this can be done through practice, trainings, feedback and education. I will not only do this in the spare time that I have, but I will set time aside each week to be able to focus on development to improve my strengths. Constructive thought processes: Reduction of dysfunctional beliefs Discover where my intellectual arrogance is causing disabling ignorance and overcome it (Drucker, 2005). I will do this through the feedback analysis process and feedback from my employees. Assess the issues that I can control monthly. Remind myself to have faith, I will be rewarded over time even if I do not see it right away. Kaplan (2008) stated, \"Have faith that, although justice may not prevail at any given point in time, it should generally prevail over time.\" This will help me stay focused on the issues that I can control. Increase of positive self-image I will not try to change myself, but instead I will work to improve the way I perform. I will do this by keeping track of my results monthly to become more efficient.
