Who should they report to? What should they include in their report? Use the federal and state laws to guide your policy here.
• Here are the federal laws I chose:
• CAPTA is the main federal child abuse and neglect law. It was initially created in P.L. 93-247 and revised on January 7, 2019, as part of the Victims of Child Abuse Act Reauthorization Act of 2018. CAPTA advises states on child protection(Child Welfare Information Gateway (2023).
• The Family First Prevention Services Act (P.L. 115-123) favors prevention over outside-the-home care (Child Welfare Information Gateway (2023).
• Here are the state laws i chose:
• According to North Carolina law, anybody who has reason to believe that a child is being abused, neglected, or dependent, or who has reason to believe that a child died as a result of abuse, must contact Child Protective Services (North Carolina Department of Justice, 2019).
• Under North Carolina General Statutes 14-318.2, any person who inflicts or allows physical injury to a child under 16 is guilty of child abuse, a Class A1 misdemeanor (North Carolina Judicial Branch, 2023).
