  1. Rationale: Your rationale must consider all the information you have gathered in parts 1 and 2 of this assessment. Your rationale must identify the following;
  • How this experience builds on diverse backgrounds of the children through its focus on a specific event, custom, tradition or belief relevant to the cultures in the service
  • How the experience will encourage children's understanding and appreciation of diversity
  • How the experience includes local languages or dialects

b) Teaching strategies: You will need to write the strategies you will use during the activity. Each of the following must be included;

  • How you will encourage positive relationships between children
  • How you will communicate with children to help them feel connected to their culture
  • How you will explore different world views with children
  • How you will present an issue to children that encourage them to work together to problem-solve
  • How you will expose children to a different language or dialect
    • What questions you asked about the family's knowledge, skills, interests (both in and outside the service), life or culture to inform the plan and their responses

c) Family consultation: You will need to show and explain your plan to the families and record your discussion of the following:

  • Specific details of the oral and non-verbal communication skills you used.
  • How you addressed any questions or concerns families had.
  • How you came to shared decision making around the goals for their child.
d) Policy link:Identify the service standards and other policy, procedures and/or initiatives used to support children and educator's participation

e) Reflection/ Evaluation- reflect on:

  1. What happened with the children
  1. Child's story -(Describe what happened, how the children responded, what they said/did, how the children interacted, how they used the environment/resources provided goals they achieved.)

  1. Family follow-up: Share your evaluation with the families identified in your plan and record your discussion of the following:
    • How you responded to any questions or concerns they had/have as a result of the experience and/or your evaluation.
    • How you communicated the children's interests and development observed during the experience.
    • How you encouraged them to give their feedback on the experience.
    • And any follow up they required.
