1. Develop at least two research questions and two hypotheses directly related to Veteran Homelessness and Mental illness.  When constructing your questions and hypotheses, consider the guidelines stated in the "Introduction" section of this Discussion
2. For your hypothesis, you will need to identify both the independent variable (IV) and dependent variables (DV), in addition to identifying and defining your operational definitions of both your IV and DV; and

You should discuss the specific research question and hypothesis your study is going to answer. Your research question and hypothesis should be clear and logically flow from the literature review. You will need to state your research question and hypothesis (e.g., will A reduce B? Will A eliminate B?). For the hypothesis you will need to specify the relationship between the independent variable (the cause or new intervention) and the dependent variable (the research problem). For example, if my research problem is college students who struggle with anxiety and stress then a research question could be:

If my research problem is college students who struggle with anxiety and stress, then a hypothesis could be:

 

College students who receive a CBT intervention will have significantly lower levels of anxiety and stress compared to college students who do not receive a CBT intervention.

 

 

 

For your Hypothesis, Identify and Define your Independent Variable

 

Operationally define the independent variable (IV).  For example, from the hypothesis above, the independent variable is the CBT intervention. Using the hypothesis above as an example, define your IV by discussing the exact components of CBT, so the reader knows exactly what the CBT intervention includes after reading your definition.

Operationally define the dependent variable (DV).  For example, the hypothesis above has two DVs that include "levels of anxiety" and "levels of stress." Using the hypothesis above as an example, define your DVs by discussing exactly how you plan to measure them. So, you might use the Beck Anxiety Inventory (BAI) to measure anxiety in college students, and so you need to explain to the reader what the BAI is.
