Dialectical theory suggests that in many situations we face in groups or organizations, there are two seemingly opposite goals or options to choose from. Dialectical theory suggests that instead of choosing one option over the other (i.e. choosing between being task or relational focused), individuals instead must manage the two options simultaneously because both are important, valuable, and desirable.
