  • Section 2:
    • Short-term development needs
    • Priorities
    • Action plan/Personal and professional development activities
    • Target date

When preparing the personal and professional development plan, you must follow the following steps:

Step 1: Determine your current state

  • What are my strengths?
  • What are my weaknesses?
  • What are the common feedbacks that I receive from others?
  • What other performance indicators can I notice?

Step 2: Determine your desired state

  • What is the desired proficiency level or capability for the selected focus areas?
  • Why do I want to achieve that?
  • What are my priorities?
  • What are the organisational demands for personal and professional development?

Step 3: Determine the actions to be implemented to reach the desired state

  • What must I improve/ learn/ experience to achieve the desired state?
  • What are the possible resources to learn/ experience/ improve?

Step 4: Prioritise organisational demands

  • Set a timeline for meeting your short-term development needs. Use Google calendar to organise and prioritise tasks and commitments for one (1) month.
  • Schedule your time in weeks
  • Set milestone in between short-term development needs
