Description For this assignment, follow the principles for writing messages that deliver negative news. Think about audience, tone, and layout. After you compose the message, be sure to proofread your correspondence to improve accuracy and concision. For the topic you choose, invent any details that are necessary for the message. 1. The organization you work for has always offered employees time in lieu for hours they work over the set 7.5 hours a day. Many employees prefer time in lieu rather than earning overtime because time in lieu allows them to take days off for work completed and provides them a better work-life balance. Because of growing client demands, employees must now take overtime payouts rather than time in lieu for extra hours they work. Employees will not be happy about this change. Announce the change and retain goodwill with your message. 2. Your office operates out of the 11th floor of an office tower downtown. Presently, members of the Accounting Department have south facing offices with windows that offer a lovely view of the river valley. In three months, your floor will undergo renovations to create more seating because the company is expanding. The south-facing offices will be turned into a staff lounge. Send a message to the manager of the Accounting Department announcing the change. 3. You are a staff sergeant with the Everytown Police Force. Every year, all of the police forces in your province get together to compete in the Police Olympics, a set of drills and athletic events. Members of the force work hard to train for the competitions. Six months ago, you approved Constable GREEN's request to attend and compete in the events in June. You have since found out that a task force on gangs is meeting during the same time and Constable GREEN must attend the meeting. You do hope he will consider representing the Everytown force in the Police Olympics in the future, so write the message in a way that encourages him and perhaps offers something else attractive. 4.
