All members of your LT have been with ACME Brick for 1 year. After several incidents where midlevel managers have displayed poor leadership skills, the CEO has asked the four of you to form a team to create and present a leadership development program. The CEOs intent is for managers to improve their skills to prevent the leadership issues and failures listed below from occurring again: 1. Employees complained that they are kept in the dark. Employees have recently said that the work schedule comes out late and most employees do not know what they are supposed to be working on that day until they ask management. This leads to employees sitting idle waiting on instructions. 2. After hiring a new production manager, output and profits increased. However, morale seemed to take a dip. Interestingly, although ACME has a robust safety plan, workplace injuries increased. 3. The CEO overheard a department meeting during which a manager was profanely berating his assistant manager in front of his subordinates. 4. The accounts receivable clerk told the CFO that she has been sexually harassed by one of the mechanics who comes by a couple days a week to check on his pay. 5. Due to increased demand, ACME added a night shift. Although staffing, materials, equipment, etc are the same, the night shift has 20% more defects than the day shift. 6. The CEO senses other leadership issues exist that he does not know about. The CEO has provided the following guidance. Training audience-15 managers Training must be between 20 and 30 hours. Maximum time window for program execution: Complete within 3 months LTs are to develop a plan. Plan must include detailed schedule of topics (Step 4), training method (lecture, practical application, team building events, guest speakers, social events, etc). Include any logistical requirements.
