Directions: Prepare a document with the topic and outline of your technical project report.

Step 1. Determine the topic of your project.

Step 2. Describe briefly the scope of your technical report (this 1 page report must be thorough).

Step 3. Write a statement of purpose, which will serve as a benchmark for reporting of your project.

Save your report as an MS Word or .RTF document, attach it and submit your project proposal.

Important: Once the topic is selected topic it cannot be changed, the choice locks the topic for the next few weeks of research. Think it through!

Project Topic: Resolving Compatibility Issues with MS Office 2007 Project Scope: The intended audience for our project is all Microsoft Office users, which include but is not limited to students, professionals and non-professionals, technical and non-technical users. This project will focus specifically on compatibility issues with Microsoft Word, Excel and Power Point 2007 products and earlier versions. 1. How to save a document created in MS Word 2007 in Compatibility Mode. 2. How to change a document already saved in MSword2007. 3. How to change the default save of the document. 4. How to install the MS Compatibility pack. 5. Powerpoint Presentation Statement of Purpose: It would be great to be able to open, edit, and save documents, workbooks, and presentations in the file formats new to Microsoft Office Word, Excel, and PowerPoint 2007 that when sent to them the users with the lower versions of MS Office can view as well. But due to todays rapidly growing technology and variety of file formats of different MS Office documents that exist (e.g. 97-2003, 2007, etc.), Microsoft users are running into compatibility problems when opening Word Documents, Excel Spread Sheets and PowerPoint Presentations sent from another user. So the solution to this problem would be to give users various options to complete their assigned tasks. Therefore, the purpose of our group project would be to instruct users on how to solve their compatibility issues between previous versions and the newest version of Microsoft Office 2007.
