Directions: This extra credit assignment uses the data in the le Mlsurvey52022.xls on Canvas. These data are from the module 1 survey that was completed at the beginning of the semester. The goal of the assignment is to summarize some of the variables in this data set numerically. The variables are in the codebook below. You can do as much of the assignment as you want. You will only be graded on what you complete. The assignment must be uploaded in an Excel le. Excel must be used to do all the analyses. The assignment is due in Module 14. This is not a group assignment. Frequency Tables: Select four variables that interest you (not class section or semester) and create a frequency table for each one using the Pivot Table in Excel that includes the counts and percentages. (1 point per variable; 4 points total) ** You can choose either Class Section or Semester as your variable of choice for the analyses below. If you use Semester, just replace Section with Semester in the instructions below. 2. Contingency Tables: Now we are going to compare the two class sections on the four variables you chose above. Create four contingency tables with class section in the rows for each one and one of the variables you chose in the columns. You must use the Pivot Table in Excel to create the tables. (2 points per variable; 8 points total) 3. Chi Square Test: Do the Chi Square test for each of the tables using the formula in Excel. Determine whether class section is independent of each of the variables you chose. You will do one test per variable. (3 points per variable; 12 points total) \"You may find you have expected values less than 5 for the analyses for certain variables. Note that this is the case, and for the purpose of this assignment, continue with the Chi Square test. 4. Summary: Write a summary of what you found in the analyses above. Thorough responses will receive more points. (up to 16 points) Summary Requirements 1. Frequency tables Report the percent in each category. (4 points) 2. Contingency tables - Compare the two class sections on the chosen variable. Compare the conditional probabilities. For example, if the chosen variable was children, compare the proportion of students in section 001 who have children to the proportion of students in sections 002l003 that have children. (4 points) 3. Interpret the Chi Square test results. - Give the hypotheses and decision rule (3 points). Compare the p-value to alpha and determine whether you can reject the null hypothesis (2 points). What do the results mean? (3 points)
