1. Discuss and analyze how tort law plays a role in society, what effects does it have on behavior? Describe the various relationships that potential defendants and plaintiffs may have. What is meant by "level of care" and what determines it? Discuss premises liability and identify the three classes of plaintiffs (or potential plaintiffs) that might be involved in a negligence case involving business or personal property. Be sure to discuss the varying levels of care owed to each of the three classes of individual by the defendant.
2. What is "at-will employment?" Compare it to "contract employment." What, do you think, are some of the pros and cons of at-will employment? What, do you think, are some of the pros and cons of at-will employment? What is meant by the term "judicial erosion of at-will employment?" Identify and discuss three categories of exceptions to at-will employment. Why do you think some jobs are at-will and others involve contract?
3. What is an administrative agency? What purposes do these agencies serve? At which levels of government do they exist? How many of these agencies operate like the three branches of government? Pick an agency and describe these quasi-governmental roles using examples.
