Discussion Details BUS&201 15756 - W22 - Business Law Lucy, a 17-year old student at Peanuts High School, purchased a used baseball bat, baseball glove, and baseball at Value Village for $35.00. The ball, bat and glove are old but still in usable condition. Based on her knowledge of used sporting goods, Lucy believes the bat, ball and glove are actually worth around $100. Chuck, a 39-year old busy business executive, lives next door to Lucy's family in Bellingham. For many years, Chuck has dreamed of becoming a famous baseball player. Chuck saw Lucy playing with her baseball, bat and glove. Chuck asked Lucy about the age and condition of the ball, bat and glove. Lucy said, don't know. They look kind of old, but everything seems to work okay." Chuck asked Lucy if he could look at the ball, glove and bat. Lucy said "sure" and handed it all to Chuck. Upon closer inspection, Chuck realized that the ball, bat and glove were rare collectibles. Chuck was so excited he stammered loudly "I'Il give you $200 for everything." Lucy replied, "You must be nuts, but if you're serious then I accept" Chuck quickly handed Lucy 2 crisp $100 bills. In turn, Lucy gave Chuck the ball, bat and glove. The next day, Chuck took the ball, bat and glove to Sporting Cash - a store that specialized in rare collectibles. They immediately paid him $3,500.00 for everything. Chuck was very happy. A couple of days later, Lucy found out what her old ball, bat and glove were really worth. She immediately went to Chuck and said "The deal is off. Give me back my ball, bat and glove". Chuck said "You're out of luck. A deal is a deal. Besides, I've already sold everything." If Lucy sues Chuck, what are the arguments each party can make? Explain in detail. How would the court likely rule? You may quote from the text or any other source so long as the quotations do not exceed 10% of your total response. (Please make it 250+ words)
