My project was to create behavioral tracking as well as add the Broset Checklist to the Adult PCS flowsheet that nurses chart their assessment in. This project turned into changing the whole adult pcs flowsheet. The target audience would be mental health professionals. I would discuss the importance of behavioral tracking. Epic did not offer that as an option. We had to work with EPIC builders to add the behavioral tracking and the Broset Checklist. The behavioral tracking section of the flowsheet that was created seems to be one of the first of its kind according to the epic builders.

Behavioral tracking is important because it can detect if patients are deteriorating and if the implementations that have been used are working (Lewis et al, 2020). It is important to monitor behaviors in mental health units to reduce the rates of violent occurrences (Nilsson et al, 2019). One way to reduce violet occurrences is to utilize the Broset Violence Checklist. "The Broset Violence Checklist combines high predictive validity and good clinical utility across a wide range of settings and cultures" (Hvidhjelm et al, 2023, pg. 638). It has been shown to drop the amount of violent episodes by 20% (Hvidhjelm et al, 2023).

I would show studies used that supports behavioral tracking and the Broset Checklist. I would show how it is used in EPIC and provide a study showing the reduced amount of violent episodes at my clinical site. I would have to present to different mental health professionals such as at a convention. Potential challenges would be to get the data in time and getting into a conference or a convention to discuss the topics at.
