There are many layers to decision-making. Especially in business, decision-making can make or break a company. There are plenty of decisions to be made, and one of the important things to know is the process of effective decision-making. According to an article by Peter F. Drucker, there are 6 steps to effective decision-making. The steps are classifying the problem, defining the problem, specifying the answer to the problem, deciding what is acceptable to answer the problem, creating an active commitment, and testing the effectiveness of the decision against the actual course of events. Of these 6 steps, I believe that classifying the problem is the most important when it comes to effective decision-making. Properly classifying the problem can help you figure out the importance of making the decision, if you need outside resources or even more than one perspective.
