The USA is considered as the wealthiest and bountiful nation of the world with the largest income per capita. Despite the US wealth, poverty and income are rising in the USA. While poverty is typicallydefined as starvation or homelessness, in theUSA, a poor person isdefined as a parent with a full-time job but who cannot still afford to pay for food, rent, childcare, medical bills and the costs to travel to work. At the meantime, a small fraction of the US population has seen their wealth increased by 600 billion in the last 10 years.
Should the Federal Government focus on programs to improve the wellbeing of the middle class and reduce poverty as it did in the 1960s with the "Great Society" programs?
In other words, do you think that the governments should favor efficiency associatedwith the cost of greater poverty and inequality or equity to reduce poverty?
