If so, remove those data points and recalculate the limits. These become your established limits and will not change when you add the additional 5 data points. 3. Once you have established your limits, collect five more data points to "test" these limits. Do not recalculate the limits based on the additional data points. The idea is that once limits are established they will not change unless the process changes. 4. Your requirement is to create ONE and only one chart. You will choose either a p-chart or moving range chart depending on your data. If you have categorical data, such as number errors then the correct chart is a p-chart. If your data is quantitative, such as time, then you will use an X-chart.
