Do gang-involved youth engage in more violent criminal behavior than non- gang-involved youth? To answer this question, you take a random sample of 25 gang-involved youth and a second independent sample of 40 non-gang-involved youth and measure self-reported violent behavior in the past year for both groups. The mean number of violent behaviors for gang involved youth is 8.5 (with a variance of 3.1). For non-gang-involved youth, the mean number of violent behaviors is 2.2 (with a variance of 1.1). Using a significance level of .001, test the hypothesis that gang-involved youth engage in more violent behaviors than non-gang-involved youth.
