The Secchi disc is lowered into the water column until it can no longer be seen. At that point the depth is recorded. Secchi disc readings give an index of turbidity that, in turn, is affected by dissolved particulates and phytoplankton. THe table, which contains Secchi depth readings (in m) taken at random times during January, May, and September at two locations in this lake (also shown below). Analyze these data as a factorial design (two-way) ANOVA to determine if the locations are significantly different and if the clarity changes during the year. Interpret your results. Are there interactions? Use the Bonferroni-Holm test for mean separation, if indicated. From this data analysis how would you recommend this limnologist sample in future years?
