Do you agree and why?

We often use algebra in everyday life without even realizing it. Linear equations are used anytime you have a constant change rate. One example would be calculating wages. If I make $18 an hour and work for 8 hours, how much money did I make? x equals the number of hours I worked and y equals my pay. The equation is y=18x. If x=8, y= 144. I made $144 in 8 hours. Another example would be renting a car. Let's say I rent a car that has a deposit of $50 and a daily rate of $100. I decide to rent the car for two days. X equals the number of days and y equals the total costs. The equation is y=100x + 50. If x=2, y= 250. I will pay $250 to rent the car for two days.
