Lately, the biggest news out there are the revelations from the Pandora Paper Leaks. For those who do not know, the Pandora Paper Leaks are leaked financial records that reveled offshore financial assets of dozens of current and former world leaders. Including hundreds of politicians from Asia and the Middle East all the way to Latin America. The International Consortium of Investigative Journalists obtained 11.9 million confidential documents from 14 separate legal and financial services firms. Some of the world leaders that are involved in this leak are Jordan's king, King Abdullah II, who used an English accountant in Switzerland and lawyers in the British Virgin Islands to buy 14 luxury homes worth $106 million, including a $23 million property in Cali.

One of the law firms at the center of the Pandora Paper Leak is Aleman, Cordero, Galindo & Lee, or Alcogal. They are under investigation for creating not hundreds, but thousands of offshore accounts that stashed money in tax havens for politicians and public figures. It just so happens that one of the firm's clients was former president of Panama, previously mentioned, Jordanian King Abdullah II and Ecuadors president to name a few. The leaked report discovered that the firm had set up more than 200 shell companies in Panama along with other jurisdictions. Of the 11.9 million documents in the Pandora Papers that were leaked, roughly 2 million were tied to Aleman, Cordero, Galindo & Lee, or Alcogal. The firm has acted as a middleman for over 160 politicians and public officials. Alcogal has created tax havens in an effort to hide money from the the public from 15,000 clients in 25 years.
