I was in the military for six years, and Max Weber's Hierarchy of authority - Organizations need to have a chain of command shaped like a pyramid. There are levels of supervisors and subordinates. Each worker answers to their corresponding superior. This would assist in creating a direct line of communication and better efficiency in the organization. This theory was efficient in this environment and was needed for success in the military. In the civilian life I have been a part of for years; I would not see it working as well. The group behavior was impacted positively because everyone had a role, and there was little tolerance for insubordination. Yet again, this theory would only work in certain situations.
