DO YOU AGREE WITH THESE STATEMENTS?
1-Interest rates are still on the rise in the US amongst other economic issues, and the Fed recognizes this issue as something that may potentially get worse if not stopped now. The labor market, inflation date, and housing market are all active contributors to the issue. The increasing number of jobs being offereed at higher wages is not helping, and likely the hardest issue to mitigate being that people need jobs in order to keep the economy thriving. The oil and food inflation prices can be attributed to Russia's doings, and the housing market is facing high interest because of the Fed's efforts to fight inflation.
2_In the wake of the recent energy crisis as Russia restricts oil supply, there has been an increase in the production of liquefied natural gas to fill demand. This new source of gas takes up significantly more energy in the transportation and storage which means bad news for the environment if this becomes a more popular or long term solution to the crisis. There has been a monumental deficit in public policies to strengthen environmental protection and regulations and the only option to turn to becomes more environmentally depleting methods. Instead of devoting legislative and research attention to alternatives of large scale renewable energy sources, the environment largely gets ignored until a crisis errupts. In this week's chapter on the global political economy, there are minimal studies done on environmental issues because they are so evidently neglected and handled on a case by case basis typically.
