1-A core competency is a unique capability or advantage that a business possesses that other competing businesses do not possess, "for a firm to have core competency in any given area, it is necessary to have expertise, strategic fit, and ability to invest." (Langley et al., 2021, p.476). A good example of a business that used these three factors to develop their core competency in order to surpass competitiors is Amazon. Amazon started as a small ebook business and now is one of the largest e-commerce sites in the world and even compete with large retailers such as Walmart and Target. One of the main factors in Amazon's success was their ability to recognize that by providing their own transportation and shipping in conjunction with developing distribution centers they could optimize their supply chain and cut down on both costs and shipping times giving customers a better buying experience. Amazon knew this would give them an advantage over competitiors and invested lots of money in Amazon delivery fleets which payed of during the covid 19 pandemic because demand for e-commerce was up and many businesses were having supply chain issues.

Some of the more common drivers of a successful supply chain relationship can include " asset/cost efficiency; customer service; marketing advantage; and profit stability/growth (Coyle et al. 2021)". Examples of the more common facilitators of a successful supply chain relationship include "corporate compatibility; management philosophy and techniques; mutuality of commitment to relationship formation; and symmetry on key factors such as relative size, financial strength, etc (Coyle et al. 2021)". These are all common and are known to work well for the more successful supply chain systems we see. In order to be successful and be able to run efficiently, these would be more of the categories that would need to be aced and perfected.

The ways in which clients/customers are counting on 3PLs for involvement with information technology-based services are that they are expecting for the product to be received and fulfilled. Third party logistics are extremely essential for any running business. Customers who may have placed orders online rely on 3PL to fulfill, package, and send out their orders to them. Essentially, gaining and packaging up a product solely relies on the customers needs. Without the customer the business could not thrive. They rely on the business and however they are choosing to send and receive products is efficient enough for them to receive their product and want to continue shopping from that business. They also rely on this so that they can see what product is available in the first place. This is so that they can shop accordingly and know what is available to them for purchase.
