Do you think Kristen Hall was entitled?

to any of the profits from Sugarland?

If so, how should the amount be determined? Why do you think they did not have a partnership agreement?

Do you think anything could have been done to prevent this lawsuit from occurring? If so, what?

The following discussion requires two posts-an initial post and a reply post to receive full credit. On August 7, 2008, Kristen Hall, founding member of the country music group Sugarland, filed a lawsuit against her other two band members. Kristen felt entitled to one-third of the profits the band earned on its double platinum album, "Enjoy the Ride", after she left the band to pursue a song- writing career. However, the band did not have a formal partnership agreement and, thus, there was no way to easily determine what she should receive. The lawsuit was eventually settled out of court. *Scenario taken from Accounting 25th edition by Warren
