Do you think that the pandemic and shortages could cause some companies to decide to use a different method of costing? If so, why?

For example, right now when it comes to shipping due to fuel prices, etc. and the fact that some materials are hard to come by and so we see shortages, but companies will do everything they can to not frequently raise prices instead changing either sizing of packages, materials, or sometimes do one larger price hike so they are not having to regularly update and have some cushion.
