I know by now, you are all more than a little stressed out with academics, work, economic problems, pandemic problems, and a multitude of other things, so I thought a little video humor might help some. After watching the YouTube video below, consider how you would handle this situation if you were the supervisor or manager of the office and the man in the video. Based on the information on managing stress and handling conflict, in both your D2L content and in your text, along with your own experience, you will be writing an original analysis concerning the situation in the video. Your analysis should identify all of the stressors leading up to the employees eventual "melt down" and explain what could have been done to prevent this situation from occurring in the first place (Ch. 12-17 topics/information). Also, based on the same information, determine what you should do now to handle the situation. Explain why your approach would be the best way to deal with the problem at hand. You will need to include/discuss what part the different topics/information in Unit #3 (Ch. 12-17), could have played in preventing this situation, and/or resolving/handling the situation. Next, consider how the Covid-19 pandemic has changed the workplace, stress, and conflict, and how this should be managed and include this in your analysis. For this part of you analysis, you will need to do some additional outside research of your own on this topic and include this information. You will need a minimum of at least two additional outside sources/references (but you can have more), besides what is provided in your text. If you use a direct quote from another source in your analysis, be sure to document or credit the source and/or author. Do not use a Question & Answer format, simply write a paragraph on each question, or just summarize the video. Your original analysis must be a minimum of at least 5 outstanding, informational, well developed paragraphs (but you can definitely have more). Be sure to include specific examples and back up your ideas with concrete information. You need to also include your additional outside research on the topic. For this 30 point assignment, a MINIMUM of at least 600-700 words is generally needed for an "outstanding, informational, well developed original analysis that includes your additional outside research, your ideas/thoughts/experiences, and specific examples backed up with concrete information". At the end of your analysis, list your additional outside sources/references (minimum of two but you can certainly have more). If you quote another source in your analysis, be sure to document or credit the source and/or author. Original analysis MUST be posted by 11:00 PM on Wednesday, November 30. This is necessary to ensure an opportunity to engage in a productive discussion. The original analysis is worth 20 of the 30 points for this assignment. Not posting your analysis by the designated due date/time (11:00 PM, Wednesday, November 2) will result in a 10 point deduction. After posting your analysis, you will also need to read the original post of the others in the class and reply/comment to a minimum of at least five other original post (but you can definitely_do more), in a thought, insightful, informational manner. Keep in mind that that reply/comments such as "I agree", "Me too", "I see your point", "You are right", etc., DO NOT meet this requirement and NO CREDIT will be given for such reply/comments. A minimum of at least an 80 word reply will generally be needed for a "thoughtful, insightful, informational manner". Discussion reply/comment must be posted by. 11:00 PM on Friday, December 2. DO NOT just summarize the videos or questions, or "re-purpose" something you have already seen. When you have completed your analysis, post it to the Managing Employees & Stress discussion board.
