Domestic workers organized in many countries to pass new rules to protect domestic workers. Visayan Forum in the Philippines, representing 8,000 domestic workers, successfully lobbied for new laws at home. In Tanzania, the hotel/tourism union and NGOs campaigned for a new domestic worker law. In 2006, Trade Union Confederation in the Netherlands hosted a global conference with domestic workers' organizations. Confederation called on member trade unions to promote a binding convention.
