Dr Molapisi runs a successful specialist private clinic in Gaborone, Botswana. Late last year, he performed a life-saving procedure on a patient who had a health policy from one of the local health insurance companies. The procedure cost P20000.00. However, when he submitted his claim to the patient's health insurance company, the insurer refused to pay saying that the concerned procedure required pre-authorisation. Dr Molapisi then tried to recover his costs from the patient, but she has not been cooperative and is in fact refusing to pay.
