Draw a cross/ sectional plot of the site measured by your team. Use landscape orientation (= stream width on longest axis of the page), standard graph paper (or Excel generated graphs) . Use different scales on the vertical and horizontal axes. Give your graph a title that includes the stream name, street location, and date of measurement. Include as many of the following details as possible (9 marks).

a. bankfull channel width

b. active/ wetted channel width

c. bankfull depth (measured or estimated)

d. location of thalweg and hydraulic head at three points

e. classification riffle, pool, glide, from hydraulic head (see OSAP channel morphology page)

f. approximate size of the stream bed substrate

g. Discharge (Q) estimate, using 0.90 as the friction coefficient

h. L and R banks with estimated slope and soil type (sand, clay, rock)

i. list of bank features – is it vegetated ? artificially reinforced ? are high water marks visible ?
