Trade allows for a larger quantity of goods and services that can be produced, improved productivity, contribute to economic growth as well has having improved international relations for the US and the partners we trade with.

The article I read was about Great Britain signing the biggest U.S. state level trade pact with Texas. This trade represents a significant development in trans Atlantic trade relations. For Britain, access to the Texan market could open up new opportunities for exports and investments as Texas is know for its diverse economy in industries such as energy, technology and agriculture, while Texas stands to benefit from increased access to British goods.
