During this course we touched alot on how ads, images, advertisements can be misleading or persuade the audience to think a certain way. During this class we touched on visual identity, a topic that is misleading, persuading and has made a huge impact on our world. Visual identity is how we choose to show ourselves, so that others see only what we want them to see. When we think of social media, it is a large platform that dictates on how we view ourselves, and how we view others. For years, all we saw on social media, the internet, campaign ads, and in stores were perfectly tan, muscular, and lean women with not a blemish in sight. Many a times only a certain kind of "look" was chosen to advertise clothing and those individuals then were photoshopped to look perfect.

Ads targeted young women to think they needed to embody this certain look in order to be accepted, and therefore causing a lot of body dysmorphia and self-consciousness. There was increase anger in the community to present real bodies with real flaws and show self-love. Body positive became the new movement and therefore insinuating a new visual identity. Individuals were free to be themselves and identify themselves through the new body positive campaigns they saw. No longer did one's visual identity have tp personify someone who wasn't real, but it allowed freedom of choice to be who they were always. Social media has a way of stripping someones confidence in their own visual identity, if its not something that is widely accepted.

This image in particular draws you in and you automatically know the context and purpose of this ad. It wants you to feel bold enough to be body positive with your own look but also to be able to identify yourself in one of the women you see in the image. Its about acceptance of who you are and proud to be that person. The audience; ourselves, can take a look into this image and feel all the emotions that are attached to this ad. Simple words, but the image is visually stimulating to be all that we want to be. The purpose of this ad is loud and clear and informative. The ad is well thought out and able to reach all audiences across many platforms.
