Dynamic oxygen consumption rate: Use the data provided on excel spreadsheet
and (a) calculate oxygen consumption rate (OCR) in mM/min for a cell culture at
24 Million viable cells/ml, and (b) calculate cell specific oxygen consumption rate
in umol/cell/hr. Remember 100% air saturation means 0.2 mM of oxygen in
solution.
2. Using the data (pH versus time) provided in Excel spreadsheet, calculate mixing
time for the bioreactor at 10,000L scale at different agitation rates. Plot the
mixing time against agitation rates (rpm). The bioreactor uses a pitched blade
impeller.
3. Using the data (DO versus time) provided in Excel spreadsheet, calculate kl a for
oxygen at different agitation rates and at different gas flow rates. Make a plot of kla
against agitation rate and another plot showing kl a against gas flow rate. If you use Rate
method in addition to integral method, you will get extra point.
