You will recall you are a joint partner in a business called Ground Up, a successful boutique coffee shop located on Main Street in Greenville, SC. The business has been growing steadily since it was started 10 years ago. You currently have 3 full time employees and 10 part time employees, with annual sales of just over $1 million. Your main role at Ground Up is managing the day-to-day coffee business, including supervising employees and overseeing the sale of coffee, food products, and coffee-related merchandise. Your partner (Peyton Smith) deals with marketing, stock management, and maintaining the physical premises.

Peyton asked to meet with you today, and has been in contact with a coffee supplier based in Portland, Oregon, and is excited about a new product they have started to offer, and wants to recommend Ground Up begin selling it. The product is called "Mary Jane's Roast," and involves coffee beans that have been roasted with marijuana leaves. Peyton explains that the leaves saturate the beans with traces of THC, giving the consumer a buzz after consuming. The product has become very popular in states such as Oregon, Washington, Colorado, California, Arizona and Illinois. Peyton believes it would quickly become a popular product, and has already heard some of your competitors talking about starting to sell it.
