Each student will need to include a three-page reflective statement at the beginning of the
portfolio. Use the following questions as a guide in preparing the document:
 Compare and contrast your earlier papers and your later papers (and the original and
revised versions of papers you rewrote). You may use quotes from the papers to illustrate
the points you make.
 How has your writing changed over the course of the semester?
 How has taking this class impacted your writing life?
 How has writing frequently (daily) impacted your daily life?
 What types of writing do you like to do in your free time? How are these types of writing
different from academic writing?
 In what ways have the writings helped you to reflect on and process the major events of
the past three years?
 What ideas do you have for future writing related endeavors? How will you use writing
in your life once you complete this class?
 What have you learned about the writing process?
 What are the components of your personal writing process?
 What have you learned through editing and revising your work?
 How do the acts of brainstorming, sharing ideas, and reading the papers of others aid in
your writing process?
 How do you feel when you see the compilation of your writing from this class? Do you
feel a sense of accomplishment? Why or why not?
 In what ways does your writing still need improvement?
