Originating from Welwyn Garden City, England, Tesco was founded 97 years ago in the year 1919 by a man named John Cohen. Since Tesco's rst opening in 1931, the business expanded rapidly and has since opened over 2,200 stores, which also includes outlets and hypermarkets across the globe to better meet customers' needs in the market. Additionallyesco also offers alternative goods and services. such as insurance, banking and oniine shopping. The organization has become one of the largest British retailers, spanning across the European and Asian markets and has become one of the existing leading retail outlets on three continents. This, in turn, has allowed the amount of manpower in Tesco to reach an amazing growth of 468,000 employees worldwide. To ensure the stability of Tesco's growth, motivated employees are highly required to help sustain the market. Tesco is well-supported by the various roles of the company at different levels, from customer assistants in the stores to department managers, to the ofce and logistics staff. As a result of this, the organization reaiizes the importance of motivation in regard to its employees for the continued and wellsustained growth of the company. Based on the assumptions of Tesco, the business highly depends on two groups of people: the customers and the employees. Therefore, Tesco supports balance in their employees lives and work through flexible working hours, reduced rate health benets. discou nteci gym memberships, competitive salaries and company share options. Tesco highly encourages motivation through training and development opportunities for its employees.Through this training, the employees have the opportunity to exercise their leadership skills and enhance their working skills and in turn grow for the better. Each employee of Tesco has a Personal Development Plan, which they have built themselves through 360rdegree feedback provided by the managers, to help all empioyees as individuals to achieve their full potential by encouraging selfassessment and providing continuous training. Through Tesco's discovery, establishing trust and respect, as well as providing a realistic goal and an attractive environment for employees to work in, would positively increase their motivational level.Tesco employees also work in teamsto ensure individual and team goals are achieved. In other words, they achieve this aim by focusing on the customers\" needs tentatively by treating them fairly and are devoted to the feedback from others. To ensure that the employees of Tesco stay motivated, each employee is Involved in taking a satisfaction survey called Viewpoint. This allows the employees to fully express their views on almost every aspect of their career in Tesco. Once the survey is completed, the feedback received will be compiled and taken into account to ensure motivated employees remain motivated.
