Ebony and Freddy are both 27 and have been living together for the past two years.They were married by a registrar at the local town hall three months ago, all of the required marriage and pre-marriage formalities were correctly carried out. Ebony was disappointed that on their wedding night, Freddy did not want to consummate their marriage. His unusual behaviour continued in the following days, he refused all of Ebony's sexual advances, and was extremely moody.He eventually confessed that he was having an affair with Ebony's sister Gina, and bitterly regretted the marriage.He only went through with it because when he tried to discuss his problems with his brother Harold, who is a conservative Christian minister, Harold told him that he would go to Hell if he did not repent and do the right thing by Ebony.

Ebony was enraged and told Freddy to pack his things and leave. Twenty-four hours later Freddy began bombarding her with texts, begging for a second chance, promising to consummate the marriage and be the model husband. When Gina discovered that he had betrayed her secret to her sister, she also dumped Freddy. This left Freddy sleeping on Harold's sofa, as he owns no property of his own. Ebony's house is in her sole name, she paid the deposit and makes all of the mortgage repayments. Freddy made little or no contribution to the household bills, as he is trying to launch an acting career, and has no income other than from some casual work as a Deliveroo rider. In contrast, Ebony owns her own hair-salon and currently makes 40k per annum.
