Electronic Transfers by Banks Data Control, Inc., sold a computer system to Western Sales, Inc., for $2 million. When the system was installed, Western Sales ordered its bank to pay $2 million to Data Control. Because both companies had accounts in the First National Bank, the bank simply debited Western Sales account and credited Data Controls account for $2 million. Western Sales was the originator; Data Control was the beneficiary. If Data Control had used a different bank, the First National Bank would have ordered that bank, called the beneficiarys bank, to credit Data Controls account for $2 million.
