ELG3106 lab3 Connect the equipment as indicated in Figure 1. 2. The function generator should produce square waves. Use a frequency of 1 MHz. (Under 'Generator,' make sure that SWEEP is OFF). 3. To activate the function generator, press the channel button and set OUTPUT to ON. 4. The oscilloscope should be triggered by the generator. To do this, use the oscilloscope's external trigger. The external trigger input is located at the back of the oscilloscope. 5. You will need to measure time delays on the horizontal axis as accurately as possible. 6. There is a MEAS button on the oscilloscope for measurements. 7. Note that in the figures 2,3 & 4 provided below, the voltage VIN refers to the measurement of channel 1 (at the beginning of the transmission line), while VOUT refers to the voltage at the output of the line (Channel 2 of the oscilloscope). 8. Our transmission line is a long coaxial cable. 9. You have to determine the velocity factor of the particular TL being used in this experiment. The speed of light is c = 3 x 108 m/s
