Purpose
Working with students whose first language is something other than English (ELs) and those who are at risk for school failure, is one of the most important elements of teaching. This assignment will explore ways teachers can promote positive educational environments to foster academic and personal growth for all students.

"Me as a Culturally Competent Teacher." Construct a one-half to one-page philosophy of how you can become a culturally competent teacher and what this means to your teaching and your students. Consider how a culturally competent teacher might also connect with students and families. Questions to help you compose this philosophy are:

- What you plan to do in the future to continue to perfect your culturally responsive skills?
