Emergency Rooms (ER) are some of the most expensive units to run in a Medical Center. Short waiting times in all stages of a patient's passage through the ER are important for the overall service and a measure of how well the ER is managed. As part of a larger study, the waiting time in Medical Centers A and B was studied (i.e. the waiting time from entering the ER to the first contact with a healthcare professional (a Doctor or Nurse). Each center operates 24 hours a day, 7 days a week throughout the year. For each Center, there are 3 shifts: Day shift, Evening shift and Night shift. For each shift three patients were selected and their passage through the systems was studied in detail (i.e. using a stopwatch all activities were recorded): one patient was selected randomly two hours after the shift began, the second patient was selected randomly 4 hours after the shift began and the third patient was selected randomly two hours later (i.e. 6 hours after the shift began, which is also two hours before the shift ends); these patients were recorded as Sample 1, Sample 2 and Sample 3 respectively. The management of both centers would like patients to wait for less than 10 minutes, especially if their health condition is severe. However, for this study they are looking at whether a patient can be seen is less than 25 minutes (i.e. wait time is no more than 25 minutes).

In addition to the information about the day of the week that the patient came to the center, the time (during the day shift, evening or night) and the wait time in minutes, the following data was recorded for each patient: gender, age and health condition (minor, moderate or severe condition).

Your task will be to compare the two centers with respect to their performance (wait time to see a health professional). Specifically, for each medical center you will be asked to:

Describe who came to the center (substantiate your findings with output from JMP): (a). What percentage of patients were Male? What percentage were Female? (b). What percentage of patients came in with minor conditions? Moderate? Severe? (c). What can you say about the age of the patients that came to the center? (d). What can you say about the age of the patient and his/her health condition? (e). Any other findings about the patients?
