Temperature is quantitative data because it is in number form. Age is also classified as quantitative data because it is in number form.

Temperature is an interval scale. The main reason it is an interval scale is that it does not have a true zero point (Holmes et al., 2017). When the temperature hits zero degrees Celsius, it does not mean the absence of temperature. Age, on the other hand, is a ratio. The reason for this is that age has a true zero point (Holmes et al.,2017).

This largely depends on the objective of the study to which the data is being gathered. For instance, if I set out to investigate the impact of heat waves on a certain location in different age groups, I would use stratified sampling. The strata would be the different age groups from which I would collect the datatheir ages and temperatures.
