Employers' jobs' have pay ranges/bands. Sometimes they say "they are flexible" but/yet prefer or will only pay to the mid-point. That itself is an issue. When employers are seeking candidates they rarely let someone know the hiring pay range early in the process. That makes for a lot of inefficiencies. For example, taking advantage of someone earning less than they should or screening out solid candidates that might be seen as 'too expensive'.
